Savings Story, what is your story? My story, does not involve any terrible life changing dilemmas. Such as divorce, sickness, loss of job, single motherhood and such. I did have a child at a young age, got married, didn’t have much money, but you know I didn’t know any better. Things were great.

Saving money has always been in my veins, yes I do like nice things, taking nice trips, etc.. but that is besides the point. I was raised where if you could buy something inexpensive that you use regularly then you buy accordingly. For instance, if you know you are going to drink carbonated beverages and a 24 pack (which now is more like a 20 pack) is $6.99, but will go on sale for $4.99-$5.49. Then you stock up. Those dollars saved do add up. You save on what you can so you can buy things you want.

My grandma had coupons, likes to shop deals, clearance and such, however my mom didn’t really use coupons. Maybe she did, but I don’t remember. However, I do remember getting up early on Sunday mornings and cutting those coupons out. That was back in the day, the coupons were perforated, and you could tear them easily right from the inserts! Do you remember those days?

Then I grew a bit older and my mom would send me to the grocery store to pick up a few things, and what did I do? You guessed it, I used coupons when I could and shopped the for the best deals. Why? Because I was allowed to “keep the change” great incentive to helping my mom save some money, right?

Next… part, now there is wrong with buying second hand? Really, a pair of Gap Jeans and sweatshirt for a 5 year old can be super cheap if found at a consignment sale, yard sale or even a thrift store. I didn’t learn this saving trip until I was much older. (BTW, I am not old.) Wish when my oldest boys were little I knew this trick a little better. With my last son, I have been known to buy him a “LOT” of clothes on Ebay, pick the items I liked and then consigned the others. ( I was able to make back money I spent, on those clothes when I resold them!)

Now in the digital age, I can shop online and save time and money. Find deals at my local stores, restaurants, and more! It has been a recent discovery how convenient online shopping can be. ( I online shopped before, but not for real practical and convenient purposes) My son needed a Bible for school, and in 2 days I had one delivered to the house. My husband bought spa supplies online, shipped to house in a few days, and saved around 30%. Not only did we save money by the discount, but saved gas money as well and of course time.
