KLOVE and Jon and Sherry Rivers

by Shannon on March 31, 2009 · 6 comments

As I turned on the Radio to listen to KLOVE on my way to Bible Study this morning, I heard the news, Jon and Sherry will no longer be hosting the morning show on KLOVE due to Family Issues. Humm.. so immediately I am intrigued. Should I? Well, as a human yes, as a Christian, no. To fall in the traps of this gossip is so wrong, however I am human!

As, I was looking for answers, I am confronted with, WHY? Can I make the situation better if I knew the real reason for them leaving the show? Answer: NO. Because I am not GOD. He is the only being that needs to know, because He is sovereign and just and is the ONE they need to lean on during this time of need. Now, can we help? Yes, by praying to God a prayer of Hope, encouragement, and peace during their time of need.

Basically, I am just saying I will miss listening to them on the radio, Sherry taking Lexi to school, etc.. I will pray for their family, and continue to listen to KLOVE with or without them.

WOW! What sad news! I am not usually in the car while they are on, but I used to be when I was working. I still hear clips of them though. It will be so strange not to hear them! I sincerely hope things improve for them soon!

because it was so sudden and they are keeping it so secretive it does bring out the “I’m going to find out what happened” in people. I do love what you said about falling into the gossip trap. I found myself falling into the “We have a right to know” trap. Do we? If it involved KLOVE finances then I would say yes, because KLOVE is listener supported…but anything else…well, I guess they will say when they want.

My heart breaks for them. I too really feel like they were part of my extended family. They treated all of us in that way, sharing personal stories about themselves and their daughter. I understand their need for privacy, but it is difficult to change the way I feel, having listened to them for nearly four years. I hope this is not the end.

I listened to John and Sherry all the time. Most the times funny, some times serious but I am surprised that they left so abruptly. I pray all is well, they expressed great faith in God on the radio so, in that faith they will pull through strongly if anything went wrong. Let us just pray that it is all for a better, greater, happier position for them all. God Bless You all and thanks for giving your all to Klove.

Thank you for your comment Shannon! It is exactly what i needed to hear! I found your comment today because i fell into the gossip trap. I was googling “John and Sherry Rivers” trying to find out what happened. You are so right! I know the Lord spoke to me through your comment when you said would knowing what happened really change anything? And the fact is, no, it wouldnt. All the times I wondered what had happened to them, I should have been praying for them! Thanks again, lesson learned for me!

For me it was just such a shock: I’d moved in with friends after breaking my leg and hadn’t had access to listen for a couple of months. When I did, I was very sad to not hear their voices. They’ve seen me through some very tough times (AS HAS THE REST OF K-LOVE’S STAFF) and I do feel like I’ve lost some valuable friends. Wish there was a way to communicate with THEM to tell them I miss them and wish them many blessings …
