Beer Bread
I was given this recipe from a friend, awhile back. I do not know the original source. This is absolutely delicious, cheap and easy.
Ingredients
3 cups of Self-Rising Flour (this is not regular flour, I repeat, not regular flour)
1/3 cup of sugar
1 can of beer (just any kind)
Mix those 3 things up in a glass bowl, with a regular spoon. Pour in a loaf pan, let rise about 30 minutes. Put in preheated oven, 350 degrees, for an hour. That is it.. you will love it, your friends will love it, and you will want to make it again and again.
For different flavor, add cheese, and or other spices. I normally just make the bread plain. I also think you can use milk, instead of beer. But do not know the ratio, I am guessing about a cup.
The taste and saltiness of the bread depends on the brand of beer used. Budweiser has a saltier taste than Coors.
Sounds Delicious!
Very interesting.. Vickie, thanks for the comment!
I believe you can't substitue milk in this recipe as the active ingredients in the beer are what cause the bread to rise properly. I could be wrong of course as I've never made it.
Did you get this recipe from an Australian?
