How to Plan a Freezer Cooking Day
Are you getting ready to do some freezer cooking? Freezer cooking can be a handy skill to know because it can save you so much time and money. So whether you are preparing meals before a new baby arrives or just preparing meals before a busy week, here are some great tips on how to plan a freezer cooking day.
1. Start with your list. Make a list of ALL the foods that you need for your freezer cooking day. Then go through your pantry and take out what you already have and can use and cross it off the list. Make sure to check your freezer as well. Then head to the store and get the remaining items on your list. Plan your shopping day the day before your freezer cooking day or you might get too tired. Don’t forget to stock up on freezer bags and casserole dishes!
2. Make room in your freezer. You do not want to have to figure out where everything is going to go AFTER you’ve made all the meals. Clean out part of your freezer and keep a special section just for the freezer meals.
3. On the day of freezer cooking, start with small things. Chop veggies, make piles of what foods need to go in which dishes and keep it organized. If all the prep work is done first then all you need to do is put everything together.
4. Package everything well and put a name and a date on it. If you do a big freezer cooking day, something may end up getting lost in the back of your freezer so make sure you have everything labeled and put the day’s date on everything so you can remember when you made it.
Make sure to plan a whole day for your freezer cooking and don’t forget to set something aside for when you are done cooking or just take the evening off and pick up a pizza!
