Some of you may have remembered back in 2010, when I was doing HCG, and blogging about it. Well, results were just temporary, and I gained all my weight back. I didn’t make any healthy changes, I just deprived myself way to LONG. As a result the weight didn’t stay away, it found it’s way back to me.

Since then, I have ignored the scale. Bought bigger clothes, and was in denial. I tried other weightloss plans, and didn’t commit. I need a plan that is a lifestyle, not a quick fix. So, I signed up to be a participant in Homeland Healthy Challenge, and to my surprise I was picked.

Before I was picked, I made a commitment to myself to get fit if I was in the challenge or not, I had to try to get back in shape for ME. Be HAPPY. Do things I love, and love myself. I have learned that if I am not HAPPY, then no matter what I weight, doesn’t matter even if I am thinner.

What have I done so far? Well, I have tried to make better food choices, and listen to my body when it is hungry, then I eat.

Running. CRAZY, huh. Yes, I downloaded that APP everyone talks about. Couch 2 5K.(C25K) I began this workout, August 18. Right after school started. Back in August, it was very difficult to run longer then 1 minute. Now, I am up to 25 minutes. I can run a 12:10 mile.  It is still not easy, but it is much easier. I also got the Runkeeper APP, which helps with my competitive side. I now compete daily with myself!

Part of the Homeland Challenge will be online challenges, and to see how many votes I can get. Voting is easy, all you have to do is click here, and vote Shannon!
