Oh dear, have you heard the news? The 5 second rule is false.. items that drop on the floor, picked up and consumed have just as many germs as if they were on the ground much longer! What is a mom to do? All those cheerio’s floor parties are now over. Talk about no fun. How can this be? Tell me Samantha Bee, it is not true! But all she says is yes yes yes.. I still can’t believe all the germs that can come in contact with items when all they do is fall to the ground, say it is not so…. What is a mom to do? Clorox take me away… I mean germs away! Do you have a funny 5 second rule? Clorox may want to use yours and put it on facebook! So please share, can’t wait to read your funny stories!
So, I have been trying to think of any of my son’s crazy stories, and this one comes to mind. When my son was high chair age, he would eat his yummy foods, like peas, carrots, peaches, meats, etc… and then when he was done, he wasted no time in the act of throwing, or should I say launching the food particles all over the kitchen! He would just laugh, and think it was so funny. Now, he is almost 4, and still will throw, drop his food, a little more sutle about doing so and it is not so cute!

My husband made an open-faced tuna melt sandwich, and as he walked to the dining room table with it, it fell, naturally, face down onto the floor. I had washed the floor earlier that day, and he picked it up, kissed it to Heaven, and proceeded to eat it.

My five second rule: If it falls on the floor, and has sugar in it or is chocolate…definitely ok to eat!! The joy I get from the chocolate far outweighs the germ or two. Thanks for the review and giveaway!

If it is chocolate and falls on the floor…. it is fair game, forget the germs! Don’t the antioxidants in the chocolate cancel them out?
I think that the 5 sec rule is disgusting, but my husband could care less! He uses the rule quite often!
I guess my story is the same as many. The pacifier is always dropping to the floor. When baby is new, the pacifier drops to the floor and gets steralized…by the time the last baby comes around, your just happy to find one on the floor…lick it, and put it back in your child's mouth.
I'm with Jackie and DeDe…if it's good, I'm still eating it!

My daughter is a big fanatic about cleanliness. She has never let her kids or anyone eat anything that was dropped on the floor at her house. One day when we were over there she was eating M&M's and a couple dropped on the floor. She picked them up and popped them in her mouth. She just looked at me and said "It's a sin to waste chocolate".

My daughter-in-law does the 5 sec rule. If my floor is clean I'm not too fussy

My husband loves buffalo wings soooo much that his 5 second rule will sometime turn into a 10 second one so long as he can beat the dog to the wing he just dropped on the floor, it's happened countless times!!!

The 5 second rule applies for me in my house if the item is dry. If I am anywhere else, in the garbage it goes. I'm immuned to my germs I figure, so my good health indicates so far!

My husband has never believed in the 5 second rule. If something drops on the ground, it fair game. Doesn't matter what it is. If it's food, it's ok to eat………. as my daughter once said, "God made dirt, and dirt don't hurt". 5 second rule or not, it's good.
My husband and I were both raised by mothers who believed you don't waste food. My kids tend to be more picky and it really depends on what hit the floor. We all agree that chocolate is always ok

I will pick up things that are hard – cheerios, cookies, etc but not fruit or veggies. I am more likely to use the 5 second rule than my husband.

It's funny of my three kiddos two are fine witht he 5 seconds rule, but little Miss Hannah isn't putting anything that landed on the table much less the floor in her mouth. She tells my "Mommy he's gross" when her little brother salvages a treat from the floor.

The only ones who follow the 5 second rule in my house are the animals (two dogs and a cat). Sometimes they don't even wait 5 seconds, the moment it hits the floor they are on it. Makes for an easy clean when I drop something!
