Being Frugal, and being Cheap, are not the same!

Let me start by saying, being Frugal is about being smart about what you spend your hard earned money for, just because I am a stay at home mom, does not mean I take my husbands paycheck and blow it on stupid stuff.

Being Cheap, is settling for poor quality items, just because it is on sale. Cheap is Cheap, associated with not wanting to spend money on something nicer, just to save a buck. Then in the long run, end up spending more money on what you wanted in the first place!

Example, I wear jeans, all the time. Therefore, I find it savvy to buy a pair of expensive jeans, since they are an item that I wear all the time. It would not make since to buy 5 pairs that make my butt look big, instead of buying one pair that is flattering.

Frugal, to me, is not going into a convient store and spending $1.59 on a 20 oz coke, or $1 on a candy bar. That to me is just smart, if you want to keep more cash in your pocket!

Frugal also can mean, not spending money on things your child wants as you shop through the store. Children will always want something, and to pacify them with things will only give them bad habits of wanting things all the time! If they throw a fit, then abandon your shopping cart and leave the store.

Frugal, also does not mean driving back and forth going home, then Target, go home, then walgreens, go home then Wal-Mart. I try to follow this rule, the best I can, most of the time.

Frugal also is not falling for all those convience items you find in the store! Like buy a head of lettuce, instead of bagged lettuce. That is just an example, there are many more examples, please comment with your own ideas!

Frugal does not mean you have to scrimp on things you really need or really enjoy. If you love a particular product, but do not feel like you should buy it due to the high cost, look for this item to go on sale, and when it does stock up, to make the deal better look for coupons to match up with the item, and go for it!

Frugal Shopping at the Mall, learn the stores sales dates. If you see The Gap, has a hundred sweaters that are the same, chances are they will go on sale eventually. Normally after about 3 weeks of the item on the store floor. Then before you shop, check online for coupons!

Amen Sister! I am so sick of the stereo type we get!!!! Just because we are frugal dosn’t mean we are not worth being advertised to.We are frugal in lot’s of areas so that we have the extra spending money to purchase things that are of better quality!

Its easy to splurge once in awhile with common sense and a frugal mindset!
