Full Day Kindergarten: Coming Soon to Edmond

I subscribe to the Edmond Sun, you know to get the coupons, but I also get to read about what is going on in Edmond! This weekend addition (delivered by mail on Saturdays) had some front page news about Full day Kindergarten coming to 6 more schools this fall. School starts on Aug. 19, 2011. How in the world are they going to get this ball rolling with such short notice. Parents are going to be a little frustrated as some will want all day and the school which their child is enrolled in will not offer this program or if you are a parent and loved the idea of having your child in 1/2 day kindergarten before 1st grade. If you live in Edmond, you are probably wanting to know what schools were added. Here is the list.

  • Angie Debo
  • Northern Hills
  • Charles Haskell
  • West Field
  • John Ross
  • Will Rogers
The good news is that according to the Edmond Sun Article, discussing Full Day school for kindergarten, the remaining 6 schools will be added to the Full Day curriculum for 2012-2013. Which of course doesn’t help you out this year if your child is going to Kindergarten.

Do you have any thoughts or opinions on this subject? Feel free to have a discussion in the comments.
