A few weeks ago, I packed up my boys 5, 15 and nephew 13 to head to Grapevine, Texas to go to the new Lego Land Discovery Center. Now I would like to share with you a few tips I learned along the way.

1. From Edmond, Oklahoma takes about 3 hours to get to the Grapevine Mills Mall. That is where the Lego Land Discovery Center is located. According to the Lego Land website, they do not disclose it to be inside the mall which you can’t see the actual mall from the address you program in your GPS. So I called and found out the Lego place is inside the Mall. (Which is way cool.. I did not get to shop though.)

2. BUY tickets online! So you can stand in the line for those who prebuy tickets. You save 15% that way too. Arrive in your window time period. You still will have to wait probably 30 minutes to get inside!

3. When you get to the inside, there are tons of things to do! The play area (have to wear socks, can buy socks for $1.08.. nice that Lego doesn’t want to rip us off by the sock purchase, they are saving that for the little tiny pieces of plastic you will want to purchase when leaving through the Lego Store!
The attendent in the play area will only let little one leave when they see the parent! Inside this area is slides, huge Lego’s etc.. lots to do to get energy out from the long drive to get there. Plus you can kind of see where your child is at if you follow them carefully with your eyes.

4. The 4 D Movies.. way cool. They had 3 movies to chose from. Lasting around 15 minutes each.

5. There was quite a bit to do, we ended up staying about 2 1/2 hours. If I lived close I would probably get a season pass.

The older boys had lots of fun too. The mini Dallas made out of legos was way cool.  There were 2 rides. One was when you entered Legoland it was like a laser gun game where you ride in a cart and shoot at targets on the wall and another we did not do, line was to long.

FREE Childs tickets (wyb adult ticket) can be found on the plastic sacks of Lego’s found at Walmart. The one I bought had the Alien theme. They cost about $3.99. Ticket coupon expires 12/31/11.
