Kicking off the Fall in Cooperstown

This past weekend, I got to experience a trip of a lifetime. Thanks to Fast Fixin's, and their blog contest that was held over the summer. I happened to win, a trip to Cooperstown, New York. If you do not already know, this is where the National Baseball Hall of Fame is located.

We hung out with two Hall of Famers, Wade Boggs and Gaylord Perry. These two baseball players, where so nice, and gracious. We shared stories, got pointers from Gaylord Perry on pitching (info to help with our son) and Wade Boggs, shared his story of the "elephant ear" at the Baseball Hall of fame! Which, is his baseball glove he used for 15 years when he played 3rd base! Nothing like being at the Baseball Hall of Fame with two Hall of Famers!
The trip was ultimately sponsored by Miller High Life. Boy of boy.. let me just say, we lived and drank the High Life! The salesmen for the company, that attended this trip were a lot of fun to hang with as well. When we first arrived at the airport, I was the only female amongst 13 guys, on the trip. My hubby just laughed, but thank goodness there ended up being a few more girls when we got to the Otesaga Hotel.

Another highlight of the trip, was the Pumpkin Festival. The winning pumpkin weighted over 1500 pounds! The ones I am going to show in the pictures, were only 750pounds. On Sunday, the day I left, they were to race the pumpkins in the lake. The pumpkins were hollowed out and painted, and then placed in the lake! (I totally missed that part, had to go to the airport!)

Everything about the weekend was great, the food, the company, the hotel. The pubs, the beer, the shopping. There is something to be said for a small town. Walking on the sidewalks to Main Street on a cool fall day, to grab some coffee and a homemade bagel. I have great memories, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Thanks, Miller-Coors and Fast Fixin's. Now, back to reality. Oklahoma is my home, it is good to be back.

Homeland Grocery Ad: 9/23 Coupon Match Up

This week Homeland Has a new Coupon Flyer, it is pink and for Breast Cancer Awareness. Some of the deals in this weeks Ad, will be even better when paired with those coupons. Those coupons should be doubled, since they are a manufacter coupon. H1N1: Are You Worried?

Everytime I turn on the T.V., which is not often, since I prefer the computer over television these days, I hear H1N1, this, H1N1 that (formally known as the Swine Flu) so when both my older boys started feeling a little under the weather, that flu has come to mind. Not only that, but when you check your student out of school one day, and send them back the next, schools do not really like that, so once again, my sons are both home. No fever, that I can tell. Only headaches, they say really bad ones, stomache aches, but that is all they are complaining about. So, what is a mom to do? This is what we are doing, washing hands, washing hands, etc.. I have checked CDC website with relief it is not H1N1, and hope to send those rascals back to school tomorrow.

Homeland Shopping Trip Video

Pantry Makeover Challenge

I am entering a Pantry Makeover, over at This Mama Cooks the challenge was, to donate, clean out and organize your pantry. So, here is my over crowded, disorganized pantry before picture.


Now, here is my much emptier, more spacious after picture of my pantry. I just made sure to put condiments together, veggies together, baking items and pie fillings together, and all my canned tomatoes together. It was relatively easy, and would have been much easier if my 3 yo would have taken a nap!

Now for some items I am donating, cereal, tuna, soups, manwhich, rice and more! I will be taking this to our local food pantry. Probably with a little more then what is shown. Thursday Thoughts: A Little Bit about Me Today

Just thought I would write a little about my happenings this week. Where do I begin? Well, Monday.. Labor Day. Good day, a bit lazy. No pool fun, just hung out at the house. Then there was Tuesday, my soon to be 17 yo best day ever. Really, why was it so great, answer... because it just was. If he was a girl, I would probably be still listening to all the great happenings for the day. Wednesday, just an ordinary hump day, which brings us closer to Friday.

Now Thursday is a bit more exciting, it is the Pass it On Kids Consignment Sale, and I am taking a break from putting on the last tags on my clothes, so I can take this heap of clothes to be sold! (see picture of my non organization skills) Hopefully, I will make some nice cash, to set aside for Christmas this year. As I refuse to go in debt over buying to many things that my children will not appreciate the day after Christmas. Would tell you what my plans for them are, but cannot, remember... I have teens that can read. At least I think they read (LOL)

Oh, and tomorrow.. very fun for this mom. My friend @consumerqueen is having an ELF makeup party. Should be a great girls night out and tons of fun. Will meet some of my local bloggy/twitter friends like @momspark and Beth. Just need to tell my hubby that is my plan for Friday. So honey if you are checking up on me today, I am going to Melissa's tomorrow night, so you can have a boy's night in!

Oh, so you all don't get stressed about my mess.. all those clothes are at the Kids Consignment Sale, at Church of the Harvest in Edmond, Ok for the Pass it On Consignment sale. Starts tomorrow!

Review & Giveaway: IBW Interactive Books for Children

I have a preschooler, that loves books. As he is getting older, the idea of him recognizing site words, letters and more is becoming more important in his development, and he needs a fun developmentally appropriate way to do so.

I was contacted by IBW Interactive books to do a review and giveaway, and here are my thoughts on this product. The activities on the web scenes were simple and fun, my son enjoyed these very much. As for the Tracing of the letters, this was difficult as he can not maneuver the mouse very well. Here is a brief video of me and my son, he was 3 in May. From the Website:

"The Interactive Book-Webscene proprietary process combines the reading of a print book with the interactivity of online animations. Here's how it works: At the end of each chapter, the reader is directed to a specific link on a website associated with the book. Here, the reader views a webscene. Webscenes contain 2D and 3D animations. Each webscene is essential to the storytelling. After viewing the webscene, the reader returns to the book to read another chapter, after which are instructions to view another webscene, and so on. Each book contains 6-10 webscenes."

You do need to have a computer near by, to type in the web address for the pictures sequence. These are not downloads, they automatically pop up on your computer when the address is typed. The book guides you with the web address, and other ideas on play and activity for you and your child.
